On March 28, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar. Five days on, the number of deaths is close to 3,000 people with thousands injured and hundreds still missing. In a densely populated city, the earthquake has impacted the lives of over 20 million people and caused widespread damage across more than ten townships.

This disaster brings further shock and instability to communities already facing significant humanitarian challenges from years of conflict and displacement. Prior to the earthquake, 19.9 million people required humanitarian assistance, including 6.3 million children and 15.2 million people who are food insecure. In addition, the recent changes in global aid funding have disrupted critical aid to many highly vulnerable populations.

Your help is needed to help provide essential supports for those impacted by the earthquake. If you are able, please give what you can.

Tearfund Ireland is working alongside Tearfund Australia, whose long-term partners have been living and working in Myanmar for several years. Funds raised will contribute to the relief efforts for those impacted by this earthquake.
