Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ. ~Galatians 6:2
Lebanon is facing a fast‑deteriorating humanitarian situation. Since 2 March, 700,000 people, including 200,000 children, have been forced to flee their homes. This has placed overwhelming pressure on families and local support systems already impacted by previous conflict, economic collapse and a breaking healthcare system.
Many families have escaped with very little, searching for safety wherever they can find it.

A Devastating Human Cost: Reports indicate over 400 people killed and more than 1,200 injured; one in five are children.
Economic Collapse: Due to a multi-year economic crisis, 80% of the population live in poverty.
Refugee Vulnerability: Lebanon’s 1.5 million Syrian refugees are being displaced again, with many attempting to cross back
into Syria under dangerous conditions.
Shelters are reaching full capacity. Exhausted families are forced to sleep in cars, on streets, or in overcrowded makeshift
arrangements. Those who are reaching shelters are often met with no emergency supplies.

Amir*, his wife and three sons, awoke to the sound of airstrikes and were told to leave their home immediately. With no time to pack, they began a gruelling journey to safety. It wasn’t until 10:30 PM that they reached a public school, where Tearfund Ireland’s local Christian partner was assisting families.
Amir had remembered how our local Christian partner had supported them last year when they were forced to flee their home,
I contacted them and they told us we would be welcome if we needed a place to shelter. Thank God, they took us in…
You get extremely worried about your children, sheltering in the same school as he did last year, and how you can keep on providing for them and keeping them safe.

Our local Christian partner is working with a strong network of local churches equipping them to
care for the most vulnerable, displaced and crisis affected people in their communities.

We remain committed to strengthening local churches and Christian leaders, supporting families affected by violence, and fostering reconciliation between communities.

Heavenly Father,
We lift up Lebanon to you and ask for your protection over children, families, elders, and all who are vulnerable. Surround those living in fear and uncertainty with your safety and care, and provide shelter and provision for those in urgent need.
Bring healing where there is deep grief and trauma. We pray for reconciliation between peoples and nations where there has been long-standing division. Restore broken relationships and guide communities towards understanding, mercy, and forgiveness.
We ask for an end to the cycle of violence. Soften hearts and lead leaders and nations towards peace. May justice, wisdom, and compassion shape every decision that affects the lives of millions.
Strengthen those who serve others in the midst of hardship. Protect relief workers, churches, and partners on the ground, and sustain them as they offer practical help, comfort, and hope.
May your peace take root across the region and may your love be reflected in acts of kindness, courage, and unity.
Amen.
